Hitman (2025)

In Hitman 2, the story follows Jun, a former secret agent who has reinvented himself as a webtoon artist, creating a popular comic called Assassination Agent Jun. Despite the success of the first season, the second season is harshly criticized, and many readers accuse Jun of writing absurd plots, branding him a “brainless writer.” Just as he is starting to sink under the weight of public scorn, a shocking twist of fate comes: a real terrorist attack mirrors one of his webtoon episodes almost exactly. From that moment, Jun’s life shifts from creative ridicule to a fight for survival.

Suddenly, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) points at him as the prime suspect in orchestrating the attack. The evidence seems damning: plot elements from his webtoon, publicly available, align too closely with the violence that occurred. Jun becomes the public enemy, pursued by law enforcement, media, and even some of his own fans. Meanwhile, he is left to ask who would have taken his fictional work and used it for real violence—and why.

As Jun tries to clear his name, he is forced to revisit his past life as an agent. Old contacts, espionage tools, and skills he thought he would never need again become essential. He teams up with unlikely allies, including Deok‑gyu and Cheol, among others, some of whom he had helped earlier in the first film. Trust becomes fragile: Jun must navigate betrayals, hidden motives, and conflicting loyalties. The lines between fiction and reality begin to blur, particularly when conspirators attempt to silence those who can prove Jun’s innocence.

Throughout the film, action and comedy are mixed: there are high‑stakes chases, stealthy confrontations, moments of humor born of Jun’s sudden fish‑out‑of‑water situation, and the absurdity of being accused because of a comic he created. These lighter moments contrast sharply with the intense pressure under which Jun carries the burden of proving his innocence, protecting those close to him, and discovering who truly engineered the mimic attack.

In the lead‑up to the climax, Jun duels not only with external enemies but also with his own doubts. He must decide whether to embrace the agent skills he once abandoned, or to continue relying on creativity, wit, and moral courage. The conspiracies exposed reach deeper than he imagined: secret arrangements, abuses of power, and corrupted officials. He mobilizes evidence, allies, and his own ingenuity to reveal the truth. The tension peaks in a confrontation where he must outsmart both the bureaucrats and the terrorists who used his art as blueprint.

In the end, Hitman 2 delivers justice of a sort: Jun manages to expose the scheme, earn back public trust, and clear his name. Though not all villains are completely punished, and some losses are felt, he comes out transformed—having reconciled his creative identity with his secret‑agent past, having saved innocent lives, and having learned how to act under pressure when fiction collides with reality. The film closes on a note of redemption, proving that truth, backed by courage and resilience, can prevail even when false accusations almost destroy someone’s life.
