In Donβt Turn Out the Lights (2024), what begins as a carefree road trip quickly descends into a nightmarish fight for survival. A group of college friends set off for the Blue Light Music Festival, eager to escape stress and responsibility. Among them are Olivia, who plans the trip as a surprise, her boyfriend Michael, his best friend Jason, and three other friendsβCarrie, Gaby, and Sarah. With laughter and music filling their borrowed RV, the group is unaware of the darkness that awaits them.
As night falls and they venture off the main highway, strange things begin to happen. The RV breaks down deep in a forested area with no phone signal and no signs of nearby help. At first, they treat it as a minor inconvenience. But eerie whispers echo from the trees, and shadows flicker unnaturally around them. When Michael disappears without a trace, the group realizes something evil is stalking them in the darkness.

Panic sets in as one by one, the friends begin vanishing. Jason goes out to search for Michael and never returns. Olivia is found in a catatonic state before being dragged into the woods by an unseen force. Trapped inside the RV with no light except flashlights and dying phone screens, the remaining friends begin to question their reality. The presence that hunts them seems to grow stronger whenever the lights go out, feeding on fear and isolation.
Carrie, Gaby, and Sarah try to stick together, but hallucinations and paranoia begin to tear them apart. Gaby ventures outside to find help, only to discover Oliviaβs mutilated remains near a blood-stained trail. Inside, Carrie and Sarah confront terrifying visionsβreflections that move on their own, whispers that sound like their own voices, and the chilling realization that whatever is outside is already inside with them.

By morning, only Carrie is left. She stumbles out of the woods and onto a road, bleeding and delirious. A passing vehicle approaches, but before she can scream for help, she vanishesβsnatched by the entity that has haunted them all night. In the final scene, another group of festival-goers drives by the abandoned RV, laughing, unaware of the nightmare ahead.
Donβt Turn Out the Lights is a relentless horror film that explores fear of the unknown, isolation, and the terror that lives in silence. With no survivors, no explanations, and no mercy, it reminds us all of one thing: when the lights go out, you’re not alone.
